Chow Down leeds

Our relationship with Chow Down started long before the venue itself existed. We first met Stu Butterworth while working together out in Croatia during the early years of Hideout Festival, and over the years, that working relationship naturally evolved into an ongoing creative collaboration that continues today.

  • When Matt Long and Stu began developing Chow Down Leeds alongside the team at New Citizens, we became involved from the very beginning. Helping shape the visual identity and atmosphere of a venue that would quickly become one of Leeds’ most recognisable social and cultural spaces.

From early concept discussions through to fabrication and installation, the project has always been driven by a shared understanding that the environment itself is just as important as the events happening within it. Across multiple seasons, we’ve worked collaboratively to evolve the space year after year, balancing functionality with strong visual character and creating an environment that feels energetic, flexible and welcoming.

What made Chow Down special is its ability to constantly adapt while still maintaining a clear identity, and being part of that ongoing evolution from the start has made it one of our longest-standing creative partnerships.
