The brief focused on creating an environment where visitors could relax, socialise and gather for shared experiences, including live sports screenings and community events, while also placing sustainability at the centre of the design approach. Working closely with the client team, we developed and fabricated a series of large-scale outdoor structures powered through solar energy systems and battery storage, helping the space operate with a lower environmental impact.

The first phase included the construction of a large pergola with integrated seating, alongside oversized planter seating units designed to soften the space with trees and plantings while encouraging people to stay and interact with the environment.

Following the success of the original installation and the continued redevelopment of the area, we were invited back to collaborate on a second phase of work. This time, we designed and fabricated six giant movable planter seating structures capable of housing full-sized trees. Constructed from heavy-duty steel frames with integrated castor systems, the units were engineered to support substantial weight while remaining mobile and adaptable within public spaces. Each structure was finished with timber slatted cladding to retain a warm, natural aesthetic within the urban setting.

The project became a strong example of combining functional public design with engineered fabrication and environmentally conscious thinking.
